Video Troubleshooting:  Microsoft DirectX
 

1. To determine if you need to download Microsoft DirectX Version 8 please perform the following steps:

   1. Open the Start menu on your computer and select the Run option
   2. Type “dxdiag” into the Run screen and then click the “OK” button (shown below).
                              
   3. You should now see the “DirectX Diagnostic Tool” menu appear (shown below).
   4. Check the “DirectX Version” If the Microsoft DirectX version is lower then version 8.0, you must upgrade your version of Microsoft DirectX to use the Advanced Video Engine.  Follow the steps below to upgrade.

   
    

   Steps to Download and Install the latest version of Microsoft DirectX

   1. Shutdown BuddyVision™ if it is running
   2. Visit Microsoft web page and download the latest version of DirectX.  Access the DirectX website by clicking here.
   3. After completing the DirectX file download, run the file so it will install on your computer. 
   4. After installation is complete, restart BuddyVision and select the "Advanced Video Engine" in the video preferences window.
