Troubleshooting Specific Problems

At start-up BuddyVision pops up the "Video Sources" Window.  What should I do?
This is a very rare problem that is usually caused when you have had more than one camera driver installed on your computer.  To solve the problem, simply pick a new video device from the drop down menu and press "OK".

You can also access this window through File --> Preferences --> Camera Settings and pressing the "Source" button.

My local video is not working.  What should I do?
If you are having trouble seeing yourself in BuddyVision™, please follow the steps in the Video Troubleshooting Guide.

Does BuddyVision work with a firewall?
Yes, BuddyVision™ has limited functionality with a firewall just as AIM and other Internet communications programs do.  Typically, if you can directly connect with some one, you can send and receive VIMs.

If you have a firewall and you wish to VideoChat, you must make the connection request.  Inbound connection requests will more than likely not work unless you have opened Port 1227.  Also, if both people who wish to participate in the VideoChat have firewalls, the receiver must have port 1227 open or it will not work.
